Ames R. Laws
I received a BA in Religion from Davidson College and a MAEd in Counseling from Wake Forest University. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), a Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (LMFT), a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner® (SEP).

I have worked with adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups in clinical settings for over thirty years. I have received specialized training in the areas of Satir Systems, structural family therapy, group therapy, family-of-origin issues, adolescent behavior, eating disorders, and substance abuse intervention and treatment, and Somatic Experiencing®.

I am a clinical member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina (LPCANC), the North Carolina Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (NCAMFT), and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

My current practice is based in Winston Salem, NC.

I continue to learn from my clients.
